Eric Weston
I began photography with a box camera when I was eight years old. I put a darkroom in our basement when I was 13, and was selling my photographs by 15. I shot photographs for high school yearbook and college yearbook and newspaper. I edited the yearbook my sophomore and senior years of college. I taught introductory photojournalism at the University of Iowa.
After college, I began a career in public relations for higher education. I coordinated publications for Ripon College and regional media relations for Grinnell College, in addition to free-lancing in photography and graphic design.

As an excellent trial attorney, I learned how to tease out a story from even the most recalcitrant person, and how to present the best face on the facts.
During my college years, I met one of my best friends, Cathy Nelles. After 30 years of friendship, we became partners.

As the daughter of immigrants, I grew up listening to my parents' stories about their families in Europe and looking at their photographs. My grandfather was a semiprofessional photographer in Switzerland, and I inherited his photographs because I was the one who knew their stories.
I graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in comparative literature. My parents were unimpressed and sent me off on a vacation to Switzerland. I learned when I got there that they had enrolled me in a six-month home economics course, where I learned to quilt, knit, and sew.
I have had a life-long interest in history, but not that of kings and queens and wars. I've always been interested in how people lived, what their day-to-day lives were like.
I've spent 30 years as a psychotherapist and social worker. People naturally open up to me because I'm a caring, open, concerned listener. I've heard many life stories, and I'd like to hear yours.
